The Tecumseh Public Library invites local children to its Elementary Kids Story Time, with the next edition set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the library, 114 N. Broadway.
The day will feature age-appropriate stories, crafts, programs and other activities for ages 6 to 11. Future meetings of the group will take place on the first and third Thursdays of the month.

The Tecumseh Public Library will transform into “Safe Kids U” at a program at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the library.
The topic of the program is helping children avoid possible dangerous situations from strangers, and is geared to ages 5-11 and their caregivers.
Tammy Pinkston and Cherise Barsaloux of the Oklahoma Personal Defense Academy for Women are leading the program. They’ll talk about ways to recognize and avoid a potential bad guy and what do if lost or in danger. At the end of the class is a special presentation where children learn a song with dance moves that teaches them what to do if they see a gun.

The Tecumseh Public Library invites new computer users to sharpen their skills with a four-part series of free classes at the library throughout October.
Each class is for ages 18 and up and will begin at 5 p.m. on successive Tuesdays at the library, 114 N. Broadway.

The Tecumseh Public Library’s Toddler Story Time takes place weekly at 11 a.m. Thursdays, Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 23. The library will be closed Oct. 30 for a staff training day so there is no story time that Thursday.
Each program is geared to toddlers and their caregivers and includes an hour of stories, fingerplays, songs, playtime and more. Caregivers also will learn literacy tips they can take home to help their youngster get ready to read.
