Get a lesson in Concrete Planters at SOKC program

The Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library offers a lesson in Concrete Planters, at a family program at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in Rooms A and B of the library, 2201 SW 134th St.

Participants will watch a demonstration on how to make a hypertufa planter that mimics naturally occurring rock. After the demonstration, attendees will get to choose a small planter of their own and an herb to take home.

Business Connections book group to meet

The Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library is talking business at its Business Connections Book Discussion, a group that meets monthly to discuss a book title read by the entire group.

The next meeting of the group is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Conference Room of the library, 2201 SW 134th St. The group will discuss the book “Fish,” by Stephen C. Lundin.

Get moving with weekly SOKC classes

The Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library pairs reading and fitness with several weekly classes offered at the library, 2201 SW 134th St.

The library hosts a Pilates class at 6 p.m. Mondays, followed by an hour of Zumba at 7 p.m. And it’s also hosting a class on Beginning Yoga at 10 a.m. on Sept. 3. All classes are offered free of charge

SOKC gets creative with Tween Paint Party

The Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library is giving young artists a lesson in painting and fun in its upcoming Tween Paint Party, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the library, 2201 SW 134th St.

Participants will follow the instructions of an artist leading the program and then paint their own versions of the same picture.

SOKC offers stories and more several times a week

The Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library invites its youngest readers to Story Time, geared just to them, at several different offerings weekly.

Children up to age 3 are invited to the weekly Baby Story Times, held at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. every Thursday at the library, 2201 SW 134th St.

For children older than that, Children’s Story Time is set at 10 a.m. on Mondays, with books, games, music and more.
