Beginning Monday, Sept. 21, the Blanchard Public Library will offer two different story-times weekly.
Preschool Story-time will begin Monday, Sept. 21, 10:30 a.m. This program is designed specifically for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds.
Preschool Story-time includes stories, finger plays, flannel board stories, action songs and crafts.
During this story-time, representatives from the Children’s Center of the Pioneer Library System, Jenny Stenis and Valerie Kimble, will introduce new programming called “Growing Like a Read.”
“Growing Like a Read” is a project designed to teach parents how to encourage their children’s early literacy skills, preparing them to learn how to read. The project begins in September and runs through 2012 as part of the library’s regular story-time series.
Legacy Bank in Blanchard is donating a $25 savings bond to the “Growing Like a Read” program. Program participants will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win the savings bond.
Pre-registration for this Preschool Story-time is recommended: call 485-2275 or visit the Blanchard Public Library.
Preschool Story-times will run every Monday at 10:30 a.m. through Nov. 9.
The Blanchard Public Library will also offer Lap-sit Story-times beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22.
These story-times will focus on interaction between the child and caregiver, using bounces, games and music. This program is aimed at infants and toddlers and their caregivers.
Lap-sit Story-times will run every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. through Nov. 10.
Both story-times will be presented by Library Assistants Kay Lowry and Sherri Simpson.
